History

At the turn of the century, the superb Genval Lake was just a succession of streams and ponds through which the aptly named silver stream, “L’Argentine”, wended its way...

The Château was built in 1906 by the Société des Eaux Minérales, to create a spa. In 1934, Schweppes (Belgium) rented the building and set up a water and soft drinks production unit, taking advantage of the local springs.

In 1952 the property was taken over by the Martin family and production continued until 1981, when John Martin decided to move the production to more modern premises.

This gave birth to the idea of creating a different, sophisticated, elegant hotel, while still preserving the atmosphere of a turn-of-the-century château, and so the building became a deluxe establishment.

The calm and tranquillity of 1904 have been maintained, for the wellbeing of travellers from all around the world, as well as for the swans which still glide gracefully on the lake...
